A Letter from Our New Director of Sacred Music
It is a great joy to join the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church community as Director of Sacred Music. My musical life has always been closely connected to our Holy Catholic Church, both in my native Peru and here in the United States, where I had the opportunity to study the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Accompanying from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
I look forward to using the gifts God has given me in service of the liturgy and the parish community, and I am especially excited to work with our choirs and musicians and to help make sacred music an even more meaningful part of our life together at St. John's. If you have musical experience (or simply a love for singing) and have ever thought about sharing that gift with the parish, I warmly encourage you to consider becoming part of our music ministry.
For the past two years, my wife Liza and I lived in Conway, AR, where I taught music at the University of Central Arkansas, and now we are very excited to make Panama City our new home and to become part of the St. John's family. We are grateful for the warm welcome we have already received and look forward to meeting many more of you, getting to know the parish community, and sharing in the beauty of making music to honour Our Lord together.
