VBS is a joint summer Vacation Bible School week between St. John the Evangelist and St. Dominic Catholic Church, held at St. Dominic's Monsignor Crowe Community Center. Children of both parishes spend five days immersed in song, craft, prayer, and the Gospel.

VBS is one of the brightest weeks of the parish summer. For five days, children gather to be immersed in the story of salvation: sung, played, prayed, and lived. The format is light. The substance is anything but. Children leave the week having heard the Gospel proclaimed in language and gestures they can carry home, and parents see their kids returning with songs in their mouths and questions they didn't have on Monday.
That St. John and St. Dominic host this together is part of the gift. The two parishes share children, share volunteers, share the work of forming the next generation in the faith. VBS is the most visible week of that shared work each year. Volunteers from both parishes shape the program; families from both parishes fill the hall.
The themes change year to year (Eternal Waters in 2026, drawing from Isaiah 43:19), but the heart of the week stays constant: that God is alive, that He pursues us, and that He invites our children into the same friendship He offers everyone.

Volunteers are also needed: high schoolers, parents, and any adult who wants to help shape the week. Children of adult volunteers who serve at least three days attend free. Reach out through the parish office to learn how to volunteer.
