A letter from Fr. Kennell
Saying "Goodbye"
Dear Parish Family,
It has been a great privilege and honor to be your pastor these last four years. The time went by quickly, that's for sure. But even if it was briefer than anticipated, the change this time has effected in me will be lasting. I will not forget you or this place.
I have often reflected at funerals on the nature of saying goodbye. It hurts. There's something deep within us that dislikes the separation, the lack of communion. Indeed, that is what we're made for: communion with one another, communion with the Lord. And there's where I find some solace in saying goodbye to you all now. I know it's not the end. In fact, our "being together" remains a reality in our being tethered to the Lord. He unites us all. Distance doesn't matter.
There is so much more that I feel like I could say, perhaps should say. I'm proud of what we've accomplished here together in my four years, and I'm confident that the momentum will only continue. You are the backbone of the parish.
Stay close to the Lord, and this parish will only continue to blossom as each of you remain rooted in the love of Christ.
Know that you will remain in my heart. Thank you for all of your love and support (and patience!) with me through these past years. I am a better man and a better priest because of it.
And as ever, please keep me in your prayers, and know that you remain in mine.
Peace.
-Fr. Kennell
