The Month of June
Dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
June is traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a devotion that highlights Christ's boundless love, mercy, and compassion for all people. The image of the Sacred Heart depicts Jesus pointing to His heart, which is aflame with love, crowned with thorns, and pierced for our salvation. Throughout the month, we are invited to reflect more deeply on the immense love of Christ revealed through His suffering, death, and resurrection. This devotion reminds us that God's love is personal, sacrificial, and always available to those who seek Him.
The devotion to the Sacred Heart grew from the visions received by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in the seventeenth century, in which Jesus called for greater devotion to His Heart and reparation for sins. Catholics honor the Sacred Heart through prayer, Eucharistic adoration, acts of charity, and the practice of enthroning the Sacred Heart in their homes. As we celebrate this devotion, may we open our hearts more fully to Jesus, trusting in His mercy and striving to share His love with those around us.
