Introducing Pathways
A new way for families to grow in faith at St. John's
This year, St. John's is launching Pathways, a new family faith formation experience designed to help you grow in faith both at church and at home.
Pathways replaces our previous religious education model and becomes the primary way families participate in faith formation at St. John's.
Pathways engages families in a mix of At-Church and At-Home sessions. Families gather at the parish for a shared meal, teaching, and community. Then, you continue the journey in your own home with simple, guided sessions designed for real family life.
At-Home sessions take just 20–30 minutes and we provide everything you need: conversation prompts, prayer experiences, & hands-on materials. No theological background required. We'll equip you every step of the way.
What to Expect
At-Church Sessions (Wednesdays)
- 5:15 PM | Dinner (provided)
- 6:00–7:30 PM | Formation
- Teaching and prayer
- Age-based small groups for children, teens, and parents
- Community for the whole family
- Childcare available for younger children
At-Home Sessions
- 20–30 minute guided sessions
- Simple, meaningful conversations about faith
- Materials and resources provided for every family
Who Is It For?
Pathways is for all families with children ages 5–17, whether you are preparing for sacraments or simply want to grow in faith together.
It is also how we prepare for:
- First Reconciliation & First Communion (age 7+ by June 2028)
- Confirmation (ages 7–18 by June 2027)
Your Family's Journey
- August: Seek for Families (4 At-Church sessions)
- Fall: Root (mix of At-Church and At-Home sessions)
- Spring: Continued pathways based on your family's stage and sacramental readiness
Cost: Free! Donations welcome to offset the cost.
