Ascension of the Lord

Read this week's bulletin to see the latest from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Dear Parish Family & Friends,

A blessed start to summer to all of you! The month of June in the church has always occupied a particular place in my heart. For one, there are many feast days that the Church calls us to celebrate. This is also a month when many martyrs of the faith are recognized. A principal celebration is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Also, in general, the first weekend of June is traditionally when our diocese celebrates the ordination of men to the priesthood.

I am not with you this weekend, as I am attending the ordinations of four of our seminarians to the sacred office of priest. I was also requested by one of them to be at the celebration of his first Mass. We are blessed this year to have this larger number of ordinations, the highest number since my class was ordained in 2016. Praise God for his providential care in calling men in our diocese to the priesthood, and we thank God for their generous response. Please pray for Fr. William Gibson, Fr. Christopher Holcomb, Fr. Peter Jutras, and Fr. Grant Sennott.

As you pray for them, I kindly request your prayers for me, that I would be a good, faithful, and holy priest and shepherd – the one that Christ wants me to be. God bless you all! Know of my prayers for you.

Peace.

-Fr. Kennell
