12th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Read this week's bulletin to see the latest from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Dear Parish Family,
You see here a famous painting by Remrandt of the event recounted in today’s gospel passage. This is an opportunity to do a little visio divina. You may be familiar with the form of prayer known as lectio divina, which is a structured way of praying through scripture. Visio divina is praying with an image. You can allow yourself to be immersed in the painting. What do you notice? Who do you think you might be? What would you be doing? How would you have reacted? Does Jesus’ presence, even his quiet, sleeping presence, help to bring you calm in the chaos? … While I am away this weekend celebrating a wedding, know that I am with you in prayer. Thank you for your prayers for me. Our prayer for one another is a great help to all of finding calm in chaos.
Peace.
