First Sunday of Advent

Read this week's bulletin to see the latest from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Dear Parish Family & Friends,

Welcome to Advent and the new liturgical year! We now await the birth of Jesus at Christmas, yet we also prepare our hearts to receive him whenever he chooses to come again. This happens every day, if we keep our spiritual ears and eyes open. And this is part of what Advent is meant to teach us – to become aware of all the little ways God shows up on a regular basis. This can be through a warm conversation with a friend, a walk through nature, or especially through time in prayer and the reading of scripture.

This Advent, let’s ask the Lord to show up and help us to become more aware of his presence, even in the simplest of moments.

Peace.

-Fr. Kennell
