Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Read this week's bulletin to see the latest from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
St. John Family and Friends,
I want to express my sincere gratitude for the prayerful and generous response to our Abide & Grow stewardship initiative. It is evident that Christ is moving in our parish in powerful ways. Thank you for partnering with us as we respond to this growth and the new life emerging in our community. If completing your Commitment Card was not possible at Mass, you may visit our parish website at saintjohnpc.org and complete an electronic Commitment Card or you can mail your card to the church.
As we look ahead, Advent is nearly upon us. This sacred season begins on Sunday, November 30th, ushering in a new liturgical year and inviting us once again to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. We will begin the season together with our Parish Picnic following the 10:45am Mass on the First Sunday of Advent. I warmly encourage you to join us for lunch, fellowship, and festivities. There will be bounce houses and face painting for the children, and a joyful welcome for all.
Speaking of Advent, I want to continue highlighting our Advent Formation Series, details of which you will find in the announcement directly above this letter. These evenings will serve as the launching point for our new Parish Vision as a School of Prayer. I would truly love to see our entire parish come together for this series. With dinner beginning at 5:00pm, formation for all ages from 6:00-7:30pm, and childcare provided, these gatherings are designed to help us receive the gift of prayer more deeply and establish a daily rhythm that prepares us to welcome Christ at Christmas.
Finally, you may notice ongoing work on the lighting in the church. We are in the midst of a refresh of our church lighting, an improvement that will enhance the beauty of the space. This project should be completed within the next few weeks, and I appreciate your patience as we move toward a brighter and more inviting worship space.
As always, please pray for me and know of my prayers for you.
Peace.
Fr. Kennell
