Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Read this week's bulletin to see the latest from St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Lent is just over three weeks away. As this sacred season approaches, the Church invites us to a more intentional conversion of heart through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, so that we may walk more closely with Christ toward Easter. I encourage you to begin prayerfully considering what spiritual commitments the Lord may be asking of you this Lent.

Each Friday of Lent, we will gather for a shared rhythm of prayer, formation, and fellowship. Most Fridays will include Stations of the Cross from 5:00-5:30pm, a simple soup supper from 5:30-6:15pm, and our Lenten Formation Series from 6:15-7:30pm. As a school of prayer, we will gather for a brief, practical teaching on prayer followed by a time of Eucharistic Adoration, offering concrete tools to deepen daily prayer.

Please note that the first Friday of Lent, February 20th, will be different. Due to a wedding that afternoon, we will begin with dinner at 5:30 PM, followed by a short teaching on the Stations of the Cross and praying them together as a community from 6:15-7:15pm. Middle and high school students are invited to join us in the church, while children in grades K-5 will have age-appropriate formation follower by an experience of the Stations. Childcare will be offered for our youngest parishioners.

I invite you to consider making these Fridays part of your Lenten commitment and to

allow the Lord to draw you more deeply into His love this Lent.

Peace.

Fr. Kennell
